Will history repeat itself?

TAU Reserve Officers Training Corp (ROTC) commander Jomerson C. Madarang said the cadets’ heavy training aims to eradicate rooms for their possible errors in the upcoming Regional Annual Administrative Tactical Inspection (RAATI) 2019 to be held on April 5, Friday.

RAATI is an annual regional competition for ROTC units nationwide where the execution of Military Science is assessed by personnel from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

"Puspusang oras at ensayo ang ginagawa naming paghahanda para sa dito," Madarang said.

According to him, the unit is totally in pressure because TAU is the defending champion after the cadets earned an average of 98.22 last year.

As of now, four universities in the region namely Pampanga State Agricultural University, Bataan Peninsula State University, Araullo University and Central Luzon State University (CLSU) have been already evaluated on the past weeks.

CLSU ROTC unit, currently, is leading the temporary result as it sealed its performance with an average of 98.14, which is 0.08 lower than the average of TAU last year.

"Every saturday training talagang nagiging maghigpit kami … So during practice kailangan spot correction para ‘yung mga mali ng cadete naitatama kaagad at ma-emphasize nila o ma-execute nang tama ‘yung mga itinuturo sa kanila sa field,” Madarang said.

“Ang target natin dito is no room for error," he concluded.

In 2015, TAU ROTC unit was recognized by the AFP as the BEST ROTC UNIT OF THE PHILIPPINES under the Philippine Army category after its three consecutive years of being the regional champion from 2013 up to 2015.

Unfortunately, it stumbled in 2016 where it only placed 4th despite the historical, massive number of enrolled cadets.

Another failure of winning back the title in 2017 was made, which motivated the 2018 cadets causing them to take the lead again.

On Friday, near-a-thousand basic cadets and freshmen advanced cadets will stand in TAU oval under the sun to try repeating the history of consecutive triumph.
