Using Siglot as an attire of the graduating students for their ceremony is no longer possible this academic year due to lack of remaining time, said Mr. Warlito Pascual, Supreme Student Council (SSC) president of Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU).
In an online interview, Pascual said the whole SSC is still flexing their muscles and doing their best to push the project although it will not be used by the graduating students this year.
This is against the statement of the former SSC president, Mr. Emerson Jasmin, who promised that SSC will accomplish the Siglot proposal this academic year and claimed that it will be first used by the batch 2019.
“We are working on it na po medyo nahihirapan po sa oras since all of the SSC officers are graduating, busy lahat,’ Pasual said.
He said they are now working out the design to be shown to the student body soon, then it will be also presented to the Administrative Council (AdCo) for approval.
“Kailangan po kasi naming munang ipaapprove sa BOR since we are covered po ng R.A. 10931, no collection of fees po tayo eh may bayad po kasi ang Siglot natin, para hindi na po magka-issue ang TAU sa CHEd,” he added.
Unfortunately, the next meeting of the board will be in June, making it impossible for Siglot to be used this upcoming graduation.
Siglot is like the Sablay attire of University of the Philippines graduates and the Lambal suit of Tarlac State University (TSU) graduates.
Siglot is an Ilocano word which means ”thread”, that according to Jasmin, will symbolize the academic excellence of TAU almuni.
The term was chosen to be the name of the attire to promote the mother tongue of the community, since the Lambal of TSU is named in Kampampangan.
On the other hand, Senior High School graduates under the TAU-Laboratory School (TAU-LS) said they are a bit luckier than their “kuya’s” and “ate’s” because the LS-Student Council (LS-SC) is now canvassing for their Siglot.
According to Ms.

Nadine Rarugal, president of LS-SC, she is 80% confident that the implementation of Siglot in Senior High School graduation ceremony will be successful.
